The Olympia PMI Chapter is dedicated to providing opportunities for its members to continue with their professional development and to support them in the maintenance of their existing accreditation.
Once a month between September and June (we take off the months of July and August) we hold a dinner meeting at which our speakers present topics that are of relevance to the practice of Project Management and Project Managers. We draw our speakers from across the greater Northwest and search for topics that are applicable to our field.
The Project Management Professional (PMP) is the most popular certification that PMI offers. In order to help our members achieve their PMP certification the Olympia chapter regularly offers a PMP Boot Camp. This three day course developed by Steve Norton PMP, provides the aspiring professional with all the material they need to complete their studies earn their PMP. In addition, our chapter offers a mentoring program to help guide participants through the PMP application and certification process.
The Olympia chapter yearly sponsors Instant Impact, a full day conference for professional development. Open to the entire project management community, the conference gives professionals the opportunity to meet and learn from some of the most innovative and influential thought leaders in our field. Instant Impact strives to insure that each participant leaves the conference with tools and concepts ready for immediate application to their work. It is the only conference in the Olympia region that focuses on Project Management and Project Managers and provides professionals throughout the region a unique opportunity to network and share ideas.
Additional Development Offerings
The Olympia chapter is always looking for additional course and training that will be of benefit to our community. Check back with our events calendar on a regular basis to see what new training we are offering.
Maintaining Project Management Certification
The Olympia chapter provides numerous ways for its certification holders (PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP) to meet PMI’s Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) in order to maintain their certification. Activities such as dinner meetings, Instant Impact, and other events help our members earn professional development units (PDUs) that go towards the maintenance of their certifications.
