FEATURED SPEAKER: Larry Dominguez
PRESENTATION: Project Management and Subject Matter Expert Eco Assets
Project Managers deliver as part of a team. Subject matter experts' work integrates into project management and working with the team. How this is done can greatly influence project outcomes and level of success. This presentation shares experiences and strategies needed for successful integration of subject matter expertise.
BIO:
Mr. Dominguez is an ecologist, project manager and team leader with 30 years of experience in fish and watershed ecology, shoreline/flood risk management, river science, regulatory permitting and compliance, & natural resource management and policy development. After serving in multiple agency science and manager roles and corporate firms, he now owns a small, independent environmental consulting company. As part of a multi-firm team, he recently he led an interdisciplinary team in Thurston County that was awarded state and national Public Works Award. A scientist and practitioner by training Mr. Dominguez continually tries to find the best balance between leading the work and doing the work.
A returned Peace Corps volunteer (Liberia 1987-1990), Mr. Dominguez has also founded a non-profit organization - Ecologists Without Borders™ (EcoWB) - www.ecowb.org. Since the late 1990s and after trips to Eastern Europe, Middle East, and West Africa Mr. Dominguez had formulated and laid the organizational framework that enables deployment of technical experts in all fields of ecological restoration to developing nations. Larry earned his Master Environmental Studies at Evergreen State College in 2004 and was adjunct professor for 6 years teaching salmon ecology and watershed science.
